The Battle of Carthage was fought in 238 between a Roman army loyal to Maximinus Thrax and the forces of Gordian I and Gordian II. Gordian II led the forces of the father-son team into battle, but was defeated and killed. Upon learning of his son's death, Gordian I committed suicide.
